Floyd Ballantyne
Floyd has over 20 years experience in Management, predominantly within the blue chip sector of the travel industry. This included senior management roles with Horizon Holidays and the Market Leaders, Thomson Holidays.
Floyd also spent many years with PGL Travel, Europe’s largest children’s activity and adventure holiday specialist. Sales, Marketing and Operations success led to a directorship and ultimately the role of Managing Director for almost 5 years. This led to a period of growth in profit and turnover, and PGL forged a reputation for first class customer care.
In Management Consultancy, Floyd has specialised in General Management and Sales Management. He believes that a passion for getting staff to deliver their full potential allied to a long-term strategic focus provides a winning combination in almost any situation.
His training style is lively and inclusive, whilst instilling the need for hard work and attention to detail. Delegates invariably leave feeling motivated and with practical tools to help develop their business areas.
Clients trained by Floyd include Robert Walters, Teletext Holidays, Pirtek, Audley Travel, American Express, Lastminute.com, TNT and RS Components, working all over Europe as well as Australia and the Far East.
Floyd’s 15 minutes of fame came whilst MD at PGL, when he was featured on the BBC programme ‘Back to the Floor’. Having to forego the boardroom and work back on an activity centre for a week with a group of lively 10 year olds (whilst living in a tent) was an interesting experience, as was the back-handed compliment paid to him by the kids, when he was likened to ‘George Clooney’s Grandad’. Such is the price of fame…
Floyds passions outside of work include keeping fit, jogging, cycling and reading novels and biographies. He also runs a volleyball team in Ross-on-Wye, whimsically called Ross-n-Hawaii and yes, they all play in Hawaiian shirts.
